The NHS Long Term Plan committed to accelerate the uptake of selected innovative medical devices, diagnostics and digital products to patients faster, by developing the MedTech Funding Mandate policy. This post will support NHS organisations within the WMAHSN geography to implement the existing innovations, to understand local and regional issues and to share learning from NHS organisations who have already implemented the innovations.
They will work closely with commissioners, providers, clinicians, patient groups and others, to understand the impact of the policy and support its development. They will be the main point of contact for providers wishing to implement any of the supported technologies. They will connect NHS and academic organisations, local authorities, charities and industry, and provide a range of practical support to facilitate change across health and social care economies.They will also be expected to link provider clinical teams to the corporate teams and commissioners, assist planning discussions and support business case development for initial and/or sustained adoption.
This post will be responsible for a portfolio that includes both the legacy MTFM products and those included in the MTFM Policy 2022/2023. The role will also provide additional support for any National Lead technologies that WMAHSN is National Lead. New products will be selected each year that are new to AHSN and healthcare which result in greater implementation effort and AHSN support.
The post holder will identify new sites, support implementation and adoption at new sites and ensure measurement of relevant outcomes. This work encompasses programmes, projects, events and meetings involving large and diverse range of organisations and individuals.
The core requirement for the Innovation Project Manager (MTFM) is to provide operational management oversight to WMAHSN-supported adoption and implementation activities associated with the MedTech Funding Mandate technologies. As such, the ideal candidate will have a project management background in the NHS and significant experience at a senior level in health, innovation or service improvement.
