The European Commission has opened only its second call for regions to bid to become a European Reference Site. European Reference Sites are coalitions of regions, cities, integrated hospitals or care organisations, industry organisations, SMEs and research institutions that are jointly implementing an innovative-based approach to active and healthy ageing. England has two Reference Sites from the first call in 2012, Liverpool and Yorkshire and the Humber.
Given the regional base, population size and collaboration of partners, AHSNs are well suited to support or become European Reference Sites.
The deadline to apply is 15 April and the call document can be found here: https://webgate.ec.
