Note: This is a hybrid role, working primarily from home, but also in our Loughborough office and at event venues throughout the Midlands

 An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced events and marketing individual, working in a fast paced, busy environment, within a small, friendly, and dynamic Events & Marketing team at Medilink Midlands. Ideally suited to individuals with experience in managing a series of events, as well as carrying out various marketing activities. As part of the Events and Marketing Team, you will help to showcase the truly amazing work being undertaken by our network.

Working alongside businesses, universities and the NHS, the events and marketing team bring people and organisations together to initiate conversations, discuss the latest medical developments and tackle global healthcare challenges.

Medilink Midlands is seeking to fill an Events & Marketing role within a small team offering a range of support activities to life science companies across the Midlands. This includes delivery of projects part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (for further information regarding the current projects, please visit our website via this link https://www.medilinkem.com/projects), the East and West Midlands Health Innovation Networks, as well as our own Medilink Midlands events.

Summary of responsibilities:

In-Person Events
The primary role will be that of managing and delivering a variety of events from start to finish including; sourcing suitable venues, managing the bookings and delegates for each event, preparing all event administrative and promotional material, ensuring that the events are project / client compliant, working with both colleagues and Partners to arrange suitable speakers, attending and managing the events to ensure they run smoothly, as well as post event work e.g. reviewing feedback forms and generating management information. Medilink Midlands also deliver several larger, showcase events throughout the year such as regional and national Business Awards and Innovation Conferences. This role will require you to manage these events or act in a supporting role. The candidate will also be expected to manage relationships with venues, stakeholders, partners and delegates

Virtual Events
The responsibilities for virtual events are the same as for in-person events, but in this case the incumbent needs to be familiar with the various online event platforms.  Medilink Midlands uses the GoToWebinar & GoToMeeting platforms, and the applicants should be able to manage, deliver and verbally open and close these events in a confident and professional manner.

External Events
Medilink Midlands provide a specialist ‘paid-for’ commercial event management service for the Life Sciences sector. You will be expected to recruit clients and manage all or some of the aspects of the event management, for both in-person and virtual events

Marketing
The role will also entail working with your Marketing colleagues in delivering their objectives. At times you will be a leading on a particular marketing project and at other times you will be in a supportive role. You will also be expected to work with design and media agencies for both event and marketing activities

Person specification
The suitable candidate:

  • Must have at least 2/3 years’ experience working in a similar role.
  • While working with virtual platforms is desirable it is not essential.
  • Will be conscientious, very well organised, a systematic self-starter who has an eye for detail
  • Will be a good team player
  • Will need to be able to absorb the pressure of constant tight deadlines and have the ability to work on several events concurrently.
  • Will be a confident and an effective communicator, with an ability to build relationships both internally and external to the organisation
  • Ideally, would have worked within a small office environment where numerous projects/activities are undertaken simultaneously.
  • Must have excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office, WordPress, email marketing systems, PDF editor/Photoshop)
  • Experience / knowledge of the life sciences sector would be preferable but not essential
  • Must hold a UK driving license and have access to their own vehicle.

This role is home based with attendance at our Loughborough office and travel throughout the East and West Midlands region
