West Midlands Pharmacy Care Home Network Meeting

21 October 2020 Webinar

The network has been set up to aid communication and share best practice across the West Midlands Region for both Pharmacists and Technicians supporting medicines optimisation in Care Homes (Nursing and Residential). These meetings are being held in response to the NHS England and Improvement letter of 1st May requesting primary and community health support for care home residents. In the longer term, we hope for the network to continue whether that be online or face-to-face!

Key topics / Speakers

You will have the opportunity to discuss pertinent issues with like minded colleagues, including:

  • Self care in care homes - Kayt Blythin, Principal Clinical Pharmacist, Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust
  • Deprescribing antipsychotics in care homes - Erica Young, Integrated Specialist Mental Health Care Pharmacist, Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust
  • Bulk prescribing - Medicines Optimisation Team, NHS Coventry and Rugby / NHS Warwickshire North CCGs

The network also forms part of the National Medicines Safety Improvement Programme which was started in response to the National Patient Safety Strategy (launched in September 2019).

The meeting will be hosted by NHS Coventry and Rugby and NHS Warwickshire North CCGs, and the West Midlands Patient Safety Collaborative, part of the West Midlands Academic Health Science Network, which has been funded to work with care homes on the safety of giving medicines.

By attending this event you will:

  • have the opportunity to work with your regional care home pharmacy colleagues
  • Share good practice on medicines optimisation
  • Identify regional and national priorities

Please forward this invitation to any Pharmacists or Pharmacy Technicians who deliver services to Care Homes from any sector, in particular, Primary Care Networks.

Register to attend.
