Patient safety: new issues, ideas and innovations

10 October 2017 Forum Lecture Theatre, Medical School, University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 2TT

The Health Services Management Centre (HSMC) and College of Medical and Dental Science at the University of Birmingham, along with the West Midlands Patient Safety Collaborative, are pleased to host an evening seminar on innovation in patient safety. The seminar will present the latest international thinking on new ways to understand and transform safety in clinical care. This includes studying what works in healthcare and why we have success alongside failure, encoded in a multiplicity of enquiries and reviews.

The seminar will be led by Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite, Founding Director of the Australian Institute of Health Innovation at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia and Honorary Professor at HSMC.

The seminar will be chaired by Professor Richard Lilford with a closing response by the West Midlands Patient Safety Collaborative.  Professor Lilford is an expert in a wide range of areas of health related research, from developing clinical trials and research ethics to assessing the cost effectiveness of treatments for the health service.
