Following initial sessions in March, NHS England has organised further webinars to explain the new Innovation and Technology Tariff, which went live on 1 April. The sessions are aimed at senior and strategic NHS decision makers including CCG and trust procurement leads, medical and clinical directors/leads, nursing directors, transformation leads, STP leads and directors of surgical services.
The ITT is intended to fast-track the introduction of six new types of medical technology products and apps by removing the need for multiple local price negotiations, with guarantees for automatic reimbursement.
The one hour sessions will be hosted by Robert Chesters from NHS England’s Innovation and Research Unit. They will focus on the seven categories listed below and will provide background to the ITT procurement and reimbursement model, covering the role of the CSU, procurement and supplier flows, reimbursement and reporting flows and payment of suppliers.
The seven categories to be covered in the sessions are:
Separately from the tariff, NHS England is centrally funding the purchase of mobile ECG technology, which will be managed through the AHSN Network.
