National Medicines Optimisation in Type 2 Diabetes Conference

Chaired by Omar Ali, Visiting Lecturer on Value Based Pricing of New Medicines and External Adviser to NICE, this important National Medicines Optimisation in Type 2 Diabetes Conference provides an essential update on medicines optimisation in type 2 diabetes. Through national updates and practical case studies delegates will hear how to integrate the essence of medicines optimisation and prescribing competence, and how to develop effectiveness in post qualification practice.

Taking place in London on Monday 6 March 2017 the conference will include extended sessions focusing on developing your skills as it relates to diabetes medicines and nurse prescribing practice. The afternoon sessions will include case study presentations evaluating key issues that affect medicine choice in type 2 diabetes, updates on safe insulin prescribing, initiation and titration and evidence-based dietary advice. The conference will conclude with exploring the patient journey, health beliefs and how to engage with patient’s value concepts with differing treatment approaches and modalities. 

The conference will update delegates on their responsibilities with regard to maintaining prescribing competence including requirements for prescribing and medicines management, as well as leadership.
