As it develops the First Paediatric Rare Disease Centre in the UK, Birmingham Children’s Hospital is holding a week of events to raise awareness of Rare Diseases. These events will take place at lunchtimes in Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s main outpatients department and in the conservatory (with coffee shop) from Monday 22 February until Monday 29 February.
On Saturday 27 February the trust is holding the Marvellous Superstar Club Rare Disease Dayfor patients and their families. The trust looks forward to welcoming attendees and introducing them to the team, including the two newly appointed Roald Dahl Marvellous Charity Nurses who will provide support to children and their families who have rare diseases and genetic conditions.
The team will be joined by staff from the West Midlands Genomics Medicines Centre, who are delivering the 100,000 Genomes Project.
