East Midlands AHSN Mental Health Innovation Exchange

This Innovation Exchange is an opportunity to focus on mental health and to put proven innovations in the care and treatment of people with mental health illness into practice at pace and scale throughout the East Midlands. It is organised and hosted by East Midlands Academic Health Science Network (EMAHSN) in partnership with East Midlands Strategic Clinical NetworkNIHR Mindtech Healthcare Technology CooperativeHardwick Clinical Commissioning GroupMedilink East Midlands and the Institute of Mental Health.

The event will bring together representatives from NHS service providers, commissioners, academia, social care, patient representatives, third sector and the commercial sector to build shared understanding, develop collaboration and support the uptake of proven innovations, focused on addressing one of the region’s biggest healthcare challenges.

The programme includes:

  • The East Midlands situation, challenges and opportunities from provider, commissioner, patient and social care perspectives
  • Expert keynote speakers to outline the mental health challenge, including: Professor Louis Appleby CBE, Professor of Psychiatry, University of Manchester, Nicola Oliver, IPS Coordinator, Centre for Mental Health, Dave Gardner, Lead Commissioner for Mental Health, Hardwick CCG, Colin Warren, Head of Commissioning Mental Health, NHS South West Lincolnshire CCG, Angela Hillery, Chief Executive, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Ian Redfern, Head of Mental Health Services, Leicestershire County Council
  • Networking opportunities and information areas including examples of best practice
  • Collaborative workshops on the key priority areas identified by EMAHSN partners
  • Industry overviews of relevant new and proven innovations
  • Details of the EMAHSN programme to support the rapid diffusion of proven mental health innovations.

EMAHSN will be launching a call for proposals associated with this event, the focus of which will be implementation of proven innovations at pace and scale. The EMAHSN are currently consulting their health and social care partners about their mental health priorities and will ensure these are represented at the event.
